Once Upon a Time in Transylvania
Posted by virt on February 16th, 2005 filed in Videogame Music ArrangementsThere was a “shred competition” involving castlevania 3’s “clockwork” track for a DoD competition, and despite lacking confidence in my shredding abilities, I entered and played the most complicated / acrobatic stuff I could. I underestimated the level of composition the other guys were putting into theirs, so mine is an oversimplified, less progressive arrangement.

Nice song, seems like you’re making up for your Castlevania IV remix’ shortness. :P
Great song, another nice high-paced and tight guitarwork. The western intro and outro’s are cool, they only have not much attachement to the core of the song. The intro is spanish guitar and quite unique, while the middle of the song is prog/goth metal, the two genre’s have not much in common. You’ve turned a typical organs + choir type of cliché gothic horror monstrosity into a completely opposite and original piece, only to turn it back into a proggoth rock piece, that’s kind of cliché after all. Not that there are much progressive gothrock bands these days… If you’d kept the whole song in western style, it would have been more a kick in the nuts of gothic horror and would be a nice, rebellious statment. But I can understand your choice: can’t do wanky guitar solo’s on an accoustic guitar.

You say this even though you still won the competition. Enjoy your victory!

great song in the vein of keyboard virtuoso Vitali Kuprij’s work with greg howe. Jake u can shred – its official. the second half of the song leaves me and others spinning in a washing machine! deadly

Nice track!
The only thing that would keep me from giving it a 10 would be the dialog at the end.. Why would a vampire call for Jesus while he’s burning o.0? lol but it’s just a minor detail, other than that it’s great.
