Server move, PULSEWAVE!
Posted by virt on March 26th, 2006 filed in GeneralSorry for the downtime. We’ve moved vgmix.com over to a brand new server and are setting it up now. Unfortunately, I just discovered my site’s database was corrupted and my most recent database backup was from mid-Februrary (Vgmix’s were daily, but I didn’t think about my own site). So if you’ve left me comments since then, I’m really sorry but you’ll have to write some more. :)
Onto the big news, on semi-short notice:
PULSEWAVE LOW-BIT MUSIC NIGHT!
I am debuting as a solo chiptune act in NYC!! I have built a rad LED / laser lighting rig, written and arranged 8 songs to play using NES, Turbografx16, Gameboy, GBA, and OPM (arcade/old Japanese computer) FM, and obsessed over my performance for the past two months. I’m fully prepared to rock out.
My friend Peter put together this awesome night of chip love, including my favorite chiptune rocker Bit Shifter, and extreme-low-tech electronics whiz One Bit Music. We’ll also have visuals by the crazed circuitbender Notendo. If you are ANYWHERE near the New York City area, you cannot miss this. It might be your only chance to laugh at me on stage, because after my laptop melts and I spend a half hour dancing a jig while everyone walks out, I won’t be invited back!

Damn, man, if I’d known about this sooner, I would’ve seen about trying to get me a trip out there to come see it. I think this sounds cool as hell.
…but, being in Korea, I would’ve needed a few months advance notice to get flight and lodging details figured out. Finding out about it half a week in advance just doesn’t cut it. :(

well, then, you’d better hope i do well and get invited back. :) it’s a monthly thing, and i’m also going to be promoting around the city in general — and maybe even in other cities – but let’s not get too far ahead. i’ll post audio if i can get a good recording.

Since I’ve burned up lots of your bandwidth in the past downloading all your extremely awesome (and in some cases mind-rendingly wierd*) music here, I figure I’d randomly add some database entries as well, since you asked so nicely. ;)
* I find myself murmuring WAFFLES at strange moments…

Man, I ain’t hoping nothing. I’ve heard what you can do, and I’d be shocked if they DIDN’T invite you back.

Hi:) you dont know me, but iwe spendt about 2 years listening to your music and alot of it is still in my top 10. I live in Norway so i have no way of coming to see you, but i still want to ask you a question, will you play self composed tunes or is this a nintendo/old game sound tribute kinda thing? keep up the good work. countless hours of SWG and WOW wouldnt be the same without that game style music in the background… keep up the good work!!!

It worried because it was thought that Mr. Virt’s web disappeared.
The restructuring of VGMix might be serious.
Please hold out.

Meh, I’m gonna have to miss your performance. :( A ticket Amsterdam – New York is a bit too expensive. ;)
Have fun, and knock ‘em dead, Jake!

I go to the show late, but in time to see most of your performance. Despite the bad speakers (that Bitshifter, he’s an animal) it was excellent. I just hope we’re going to get to see more of you, and with proper sound.
