Blip Festival 2007 – My Songs

I will have a live recording (hopefully board recording + ambient recording mixed together) soon, but for now, here are the raw tracks I played, with all the instrument parts intact, for your listening pleasure:

Blast Off Forever (FM + PCM)
Jamiroquai – Love Foolosophy (VRC6 +FM)
Shantae – Bandit Town Redux (GBA + GBC + various synths/samples)
Loli Fishing Next 20,000 Leagues (SCC, MSX-AUDIO, PCM)
DnB Chip Mix 07 – Stas, Tomato Formula, Vectors (FM, PCM, LSDJ x 2)
Staring at my Spaceship DX EDITION (NES, orchestration)

I guess this is the first release of new original music from me in a while… More to come – got some new gear and a ton of energy after Blip Fest! Enjoy!

I love this version of Staring at My Spaceship!

  2. Dave 08/12/2007 11:12:09

What was “Staring at my Spaceship” originally written for? The only other place I’ve heard it used is in one of the magfest panel videos, and I enjoyed it then too.

It’s my favourite of the bunch anyway, followed by Blast Off Forever. Instant vritfaves!

  8. Shagrabbit 09/12/2007 11:12:00

SCC and MSX-Audio? How’d you pull that off? What kind of gear is powering that?

  9. hally 09/12/2007 01:12:25

woah, at your libe i’ve never realize how beautiful the DX EDITION was, because i was busy for setting my live which was immediately after you ;p

“Blast Off Forever” catches my heart forever.

  10. Ryan 10/12/2007 03:12:04

YES! You and Hally were my two favorite artists of the night; I loved the shit out of your entire set and now I can relive it over and over! You’re goddamn amazing!

Holy crap dude… this is absolutely stunning. You never cease to amaze me, but I was not expecting this majesty. Well played sir.

Also double awesome for covering yourself.

  13. Jonny 11/12/2007 01:12:08

Foolosophy could be the next pop hit, way better than Jamir’s version. You rock!

  14. Jeff Cook 12/12/2007 11:12:28

Virt is the musical gift that keeps on giving. Closest thing to a second coming of christ in the last 1000 years? i think so

  15. JazzFlight 15/12/2007 12:12:38

    OH MY GOD.

I was so hoping for a rearrangement of Staring at my Starship. It’s probably my favorite chiptune from you ever. virt, you are incredible.

  16. Moogle! 16/12/2007 03:12:13

Well done. Very well done. I’m growing rather fond of your stuff. :)

  17. Jonesy 18/12/2007 12:12:52

I agree with #7, that song really bounces off at that point. But I think it is very good altogether.

So is the rest, especially Shantae! I managed to find a copy in october. That game is full of talented work!

  18. SwordBreaker 20/12/2007 09:12:16

Man…that chiptune version of Love Philosophy is EXTREMELY catchy. Have that as my mobile ringtone now.

Staring at My Spaceship is AWESOME. Has this Epic feeling to it. Is this soundtrack in one of the games you worked on? If so, which one?

Liked the Shantae track. Very experimental.

Keep ‘em coming, man! I REALLY need some of the stuff you did for Press Start!

  19. Hudson 21/12/2007 09:12:24

  24. Stone Hawk 08/01/2008 12:01:06

As usual, extremely talented and catchy… but the thing that floored me were the GRATUITOUS G-FORCES I was getting out of the power-up sequence on Blast Off Forever. That gave me the most GINORMOUS rush–I could feel my heart ramping up and adrenaline tingles ripping down my spine. I could almost imagine sitting in the cockpit.

    That was massive, Virt.

  25. Anthony 09/01/2008 06:01:48

(P.S. Did you ever get the matroshka doll I sent a while back?)

  28. Stephen 12/01/2008 12:01:37

Fantastic stuff as always. The DnB chip mix is mindblowingly good. Bandit Town is such an adorable tune, I want to tie a little ribbon on it and pat it on the head.

  29. robinfly 17/01/2008 12:01:21

Seriously dude, unbelievable! Thanks for making this stuff available – your Blip set was just concentrated bliss. Wish we could catch you live more often ;)

Thanx mate, your song Staring at my Spaceship DX EDITION inspired me greatly when I suddenly, listening to the tune on the bus, brainstormed up an awesome game idea. Just the sort of original game idea I needed ;)

  33. Jäd 16/02/2008 04:02:38

Love, love, love, pure god damn love.

Holy shit this is so great. And Blast off forever needs a PV BADLY. It’s that mighty at the start. Pure love. The rest is just wonderful. Your remix of Bandit Town is the catchiest shit I’ve heard in a hundred years.

Thank you for making music that I love.
