Blip Festival 2007 – My Songs
Posted by virt on December 8th, 2007 filed in GeneralI will have a live recording (hopefully board recording + ambient recording mixed together) soon, but for now, here are the raw tracks I played, with all the instrument parts intact, for your listening pleasure:
Blast Off Forever (FM + PCM)
Jamiroquai – Love Foolosophy (VRC6 +FM)
Shantae – Bandit Town Redux (GBA + GBC + various synths/samples)
Loli Fishing Next 20,000 Leagues (SCC, MSX-AUDIO, PCM)
DnB Chip Mix 07 – Stas, Tomato Formula, Vectors (FM, PCM, LSDJ x 2)
Staring at my Spaceship DX EDITION (NES, orchestration)
I guess this is the first release of new original music from me in a while… More to come – got some new gear and a ton of energy after Blip Fest! Enjoy!

I love this version of Staring at My Spaceship!
December 8th, 2007 at 11:27 am
What was “Staring at my Spaceship” originally written for? The only other place I’ve heard it used is in one of the magfest panel videos, and I enjoyed it then too.
It’s my favourite of the bunch anyway, followed by Blast Off Forever. Instant vritfaves!

Also double awesome for covering yourself.

Foolosophy could be the next pop hit, way better than Jamir’s version. You rock!
December 12th, 2007 at 11:53 am
Virt is the musical gift that keeps on giving. Closest thing to a second coming of christ in the last 1000 years? i think so
December 15th, 2007 at 12:30 pm
OH MY GOD.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU.
I was so hoping for a rearrangement of Staring at my Starship. It’s probably my favorite chiptune from you ever. virt, you are incredible.
December 16th, 2007 at 3:31 pm
Well done. Very well done. I’m growing rather fond of your stuff. :)
December 18th, 2007 at 12:43 pm
I agree with #7, that song really bounces off at that point. But I think it is very good altogether.
So is the rest, especially Shantae! I managed to find a copy in october. That game is full of talented work!
December 20th, 2007 at 9:32 pm
Man…that chiptune version of Love Philosophy is EXTREMELY catchy. Have that as my mobile ringtone now.
Staring at My Spaceship is AWESOME. Has this Epic feeling to it. Is this soundtrack in one of the games you worked on? If so, which one?
Liked the Shantae track. Very experimental.
Keep ‘em coming, man! I REALLY need some of the stuff you did for Press Start!

Hey :) Great Music as usual :) Nice new year for you :) Keep up the Great Work, Greetings, SaphirJD
January 8th, 2008 at 12:49 am
As usual, extremely talented and catchy… but the thing that floored me were the GRATUITOUS G-FORCES I was getting out of the power-up sequence on Blast Off Forever. That gave me the most GINORMOUS rush–I could feel my heart ramping up and adrenaline tingles ripping down my spine. I could almost imagine sitting in the cockpit.
That was massive, Virt.
Massive.

Just when I think you can’t get any more awesome you go and cover some Jamiroquai. Why do you do this to me?
(P.S. Did you ever get the matroshka doll I sent a while back?)
January 12th, 2008 at 4:52 am

Fantastic stuff as always. The DnB chip mix is mindblowingly good. Bandit Town is such an adorable tune, I want to tie a little ribbon on it and pat it on the head.

Thanx mate, your song Staring at my Spaceship DX EDITION inspired me greatly when I suddenly, listening to the tune on the bus, brainstormed up an awesome game idea. Just the sort of original game idea I needed ;)

Love, love, love, pure god damn love.
Holy shit this is so great. And Blast off forever needs a PV BADLY. It’s that mighty at the start. Pure love. The rest is just wonderful. Your remix of Bandit Town is the catchiest shit I’ve heard in a hundred years.
Thank you for making music that I love.
